Earth is a place where we incarnate with all our pieces of ourselves scattered from one end of this plane to another. Each exchange that we have with people gives us another piece of ourselves that we must love and cherish before anyone else will. So I guess you wonder why we come here in pieces only to pick ourselves up and become whole? Well that's the point of this experience isn't it? We are here to attain soul growth which is harder to obtain when you are closer to the whole; source. We must come to the plane of duality to peel away all parts of ourselves and find more to love. We are always loved at "home". We are always loved closer to source but we come to Earth as an individual to face all our selves. Think of it as the House of Mirrors at the fair. Do you like the House of Mirrors? I never did. If you aren't fully ready to face ourself then you will find it difficult to see yourself in the mirror.
Jesus said to love The Lord with all your heart and all your mind. He then adds to love your neighbor as you love yourself (Mathew 22:37-39). We all have had that difficult neighbor or at least know someone who has. We all have had conflict with loved ones too. So we know how hard it is to do what Jesus asked us and love another unconditionally especially if its not reciprocated. So how are we to attain this? I think it's in the first part of the passage. Love the LORD, your God. So will this fix it, love God? Many people have trouble with the bible and it's interpretation of God. I think of God as source and encompasses all living things and all levels of consciousness. We are all or at least part of all. we are always connected to the source of all things and we have access to the source even while seemingly separated. So God for me is source and all that is that exists in every being on this planet. We must learn to love the God in us.
It is said that God created us in his image. I think people mistakingly look at God/ source as one who has our likeness in body on Earth. God/ Source has no body other than all that is incarnated on every plane and the image we hold of every deity, elemental and other avatars of our belief system. In Hinduism the word avatar is an incarnation, mainly of supreme being and in other meanings simply manifestation.
I think many of us understand in one form or another that we are to love each other and treat each other as we want to be treated but there seems to always be a great conflict in doing this as we humans tend to function in conditions which are programmed by our Ego and serves to protect us in our human form. When we work harder to love others , even those that hurt us, it can sometimes seem like a fruitless effort as we perceive our efforts as thankless, non reciprocal or resented. What I find is that we are setting our own limits on ourselves and thinking its the other persons inability to love us that is the problem. We must love without expectation. We must love without expecting the same love in return and most importantly we must love ourselves so much that we don't feel cheated when we perceived our love hasn't been returned. Really what is reciprocal? You may find the other person is in fact reflecting YOUR love. Or at a much larger scale, the people and situations you face are reflecting what you are putting out on a daily basis.
We must remember that when we don't feel loved it is because we are experiencing a contradiction with what we expect from others and what we are willing to give. It is because we are looking at someone else's perceived limits when it is our own limited capacity to love that we are revisiting. Don't blame the other person. They are loving you within their own parameters to love. When you are judging this, you are recognizing your need to love more. Not be loved. Remember you are loved and valued by others equal to how you love and value yourself. If you think their love isn't good enough, love them more hence loving yourself more. Imagination what a difference your reflection will be when you see yourself in the mirror.
It's so much easier to blame another for their reflection of your love for yourself. Earth is a House of Mirrors reflecting all parts of you. Reflect back what you want to see in the mirror. <3
